Authentic. Confident. Timeless. A love letter to personal style

Julie has a gift for unlocking confidence through clothing. What began as a love of helping women find outfits that feel like them has grown into a practice rooted in authenticity and ease. In this interview, she shares how styling becomes a mirror, how inspiration arrives in surprising places, and why travel and street style are her go-to creative spark.

  1. What first pulled you into the world of styling? Was there a moment when you thought, this is more than just something I enjoy, this is a real passion I want to follow?

Working in a boutique with women, helping them find new outfits to fill gaps in their wardrobes and styling them for events, really drew me in. Many clients would say, “I wish I could take you home to my closet to help me dress with the clothes I already have.” Hearing this gave me the confidence to take the leap and start a styling business.

I realized I had a real passion when clients began sharing how many compliments they were receiving from friends, family, coworkers, and even strangers. What truly fuels my passion is witnessing the transformation in them—how they begin to carry themselves differently. I’ve seen complete transformations in confidence, and clients telling me they feel so much better about themselves is what keeps me inspired.

  2. What is your styling philosophy in three words? And what do you hope those words spark in the people you dress or inspire?

    Authentic. Confident. Timeless.

My key goal with every client is to inspire authenticity and bring out their true self. I want to understand what makes them unique and reflect that in their personal style. For me, styling isn’t about dressing a mannequin—it’s about real people, real lives, and making fashion both functional and enjoyable. I ensure pieces work for everyday life, feel comfortable, and still push style boundaries in small, exciting ways. I also believe in mindful shopping—choosing versatile pieces rather than overbuying.

  3. When you start fresh with a client or a look, what is the first thing you do? Do you have a go-to ritual, or do you let inspiration guide you?

I don’t have a set ritual, but I always begin by sitting down with the client to understand their personality, lifestyle, and inspirations. Rather than dressing them in whatever trend is popular, I focus on uncovering their true style. Clothes can reveal so much about someone’s personality, and I try to let their style emerge naturally, rather than forcing it.

  4. Styling is so personal. What is one challenge that really pushed you to grow, and what did you take away from it?

Starting my Instagram account over the past year really pushed me out of my comfort zone. I’m naturally a private person, and putting myself out there was intimidating at first—but it turned out to be rewarding. It has helped me grow as a stylist, connect with more people, and refine my own style as I’ve matured.

  5. Who or what inspires you the most? People, eras, places, art, music, or even friends who shape your eye in surprising ways.

I can’t point to just one source of inspiration—it’s a mix of many things. I’ve always admired other stylists and women who truly know themselves and their personal style, even if it’s very different from mine. It’s inspiring to see women own who they are with confidence. I also love watching my clients develop this same sense of self as they grow and evolve.

  6. When you need fresh ideas, where do you look? Street style, runways, fabrics, colour, vintage shops, music, travel?

Travel always inspires me—seeing new places, lifestyles, and fashion gives me fresh perspective. People-watching and street style are huge sources of inspiration, too. Sometimes just seeing someone wear a piece in an unexpected way sparks new ideas and even encourages me to revisit my own closet.

Bonus Question: Is there a styling project or collaboration you have always daydreamed about, something you would love to bring to life one day?

My true styling project is to one day style my own clothing line and shop
